Inspiration
What is important in Mimi's life is reflected in her
art. The color, emotions and structure of her world are all
found in her paintings.
Her latest series, "Beachcombers", was influenced by
the Chesapeake Bay, and her trips to shore beaches from Thailand to
Nantucket. Changes in the beaches, shore development,
beachcombing for glass, rocks and fossils bring this series of
paintings to life.
A visit to Haiti and a project to preserve decaying
tobacco barns in southern Maryland led to two expansive sequences of
paintings. |

Form
The figure is prominent in Mimi's paintings.
Drawing from life is pure pleasure. She strives not to just
depict a person, a form, but to capture the personality of that
figure with color, line and emotion.
